Facebook CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg revealed a new Oculus headset today during the Oculus Connect keynote speech.
The stand-alone headset, called Oculus Go, is coming out sometime next year, according to the official announcement. Oculus also announced its Rift headset will be USD $399 going forward.
The Oculus Go headset separates itself from solutions like the Samsung Gear VR in that it doesn't require a phone to work. It's truly stand-alone, making it what Zuckerberg calls the "most accessible VR headset ever."
Back in March, the Oculus Rift and Touch controller bundle had a price cut putting it below USD $500, and in July went on sale for USD $399. That price includes the Touch controllers, and is permanent.
